CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
Mission Statement: CASA of Fresno and Madera Counties - Court Appointed Special Advocates is a 501(c)3 community-based private non-profit organization whose mission is to recruit, train, and support citizen volunteers to advocate and speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the Child Welfare and Juvenile Court systems.
Services Provided: The primary role of CASA volunteers is to establish a consistent and supportive relationship with the children for whom they are advocating. Currently we have two programs in operation. The Infants and Toddlers program has been designed to equip and support volunteers advocating for children under five. The differing needs of children over five are handled through the efforts of those advocating in the Adolescents Advocacy program. Additionally, CASA of Fresno and Madera Counties is in the midst of collaboration with the Department of Children and Family Services to develop a model of early intervention for children entering the dependency system. The program is called BASYC. (Baseline Assessment and Screening for Youth and Children).
