Top 10 Tips for Interns | Learning Objectives | Completed Journal

As soon as you have accepted an Internship

1. Complete the Letter of Agreement and "Student Internship Code of Conduct". These forms must be returned to the Internship Office before you can enroll in an internship course for credit. Be sure both you and your internship supervisor have read and completed the Letter of Agreement.

2. Enroll in the appropriate 195 class. Stop by PB-182 to set up an appointment, or call 278-4985.

3. Be sure you are familiar with how to use your e-mail account. You are required to submit your learning objectives by e-mail (see below)

4. Familiarize yourself with university policies regarding off site employment and learning experiences. CSU Fresno is committed to providing a learning environment free of harassment, discrimination, and sexual harassment extending to all remote learning sites.

During the internship

1. With your work site supervisor, develop your learning objectives. These objectives must be submitted via e-mail within the first two weeks of the internship. Be sure to give a copy to your work site supervisor.

2. Complete the on-site experience. A minimum of 150 hours are required for 3 units of credit.

3. Maintain a weekly journal of your internship learning experiences.

4. Maintain a log of hours worked to be signed by your work station supervisor at the completion of the internship. Download log of hours form.

5. E-mail the Internship Director when you have completed 75 hours.

6. Check for emails from the Internship office on a regular basis.

At the conclusion of the Internship

1. Write a final report. Summarize the learning that took place during your internship. In your report include:

a. specific skills developed

2. Complete the student on-line evaluation form

3. Remind your supervisor to complete the on-line employer evaluation form

4. Schedule an exit interview with the Internship Office
Email debbiey@csufresno.edu to schedule an appointment or sign up in PB 182.
The exit interview is between the student and internship director. During the interview your learning objectives will be reviewed as well as a discussion of other learning gained from the internship. The interview will last 15-30 min.

5. At the exit interview bring your completed journal as well as your log of hours
Signed by your supervisor or other verification of hours (payroll stubs, etc.) Be certain the student and employer evaluation is completed on-line prior to your exit interview.
