The Marketing Management Association (MMA) seeks nominations annually of marketing faculty recognized for teaching excellence. Selected nominees are invited to the Annual Marketing Management Association Master Teaching Competition, where these colleagues display their successful teaching techniques and compete for top honors. The first place winner receives a $500 cash prize, funded by Hormel Foods Corporation, and is named the "2009 Hormel Master Teacher" by the Marketing Management Association.

This year’s finalists in the 7th Annual Marketing Management Association Master Teaching Competition were: William Rice of California State University, Fresno; Brian Vander Schee of Aurora University; Tim Aurand of Northern Illinois University.

Each finalist was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award, and invited to give a 15 to 20 minute presentation to the attendees and judges at the MMA Spring 2009 conference. Following this demonstration of the finalist’s submitted successful teaching activities, our own Dr. William Rice was selected as “The 2009 Hormel Master Teacher”. Dr. Rice was recognized at the MMA Spring Conference Awards Brunch on March 19th, 2009, and was invited to prepare an article for the Journal for Advancement of Marketing Education. The Craig School of Business proudly congratulates Dr. Rice for his accomplishments and his ongoing success in the classroom.
