Bachelor of Science/Accountancy Option Program At the Craig School of Business, undergraduate students majoring in Business Administration will receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. Within that degree, students must choose an option (specialization). The Department of Accountancy offers an option in Accountancy within the Bachelor of Science in the Business Administration degree program. This option qualifies students for the exams for Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
Students majoring in Business Administration are required to take a: (1) common set of university prescribed courses (referred to as General Education classes (“GE”); (2) common set of business classes (referred to as pre-business and business “core”), and (3) a series of specialized courses related to their option (option courses). The Fresno State catalog contains a listing of Accountancy Option Curriculum requirements and a description of Accountancy Courses. You can also access the 4 year Flowchart, which suggests courses sequenced by academic year for the Business Administration/Accountancy Option.
Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) The MSA graduate degree program is designed to prepare graduates for professional certification and for leadership roles as their careers progress. The MSA program is designed to accommodate students with various undergraduate backgrounds. The curriculum is designed to accommodate: (1) students with non-business undergraduate degree (using prerequisites); (2) those with a business undergraduate degree, but a non-accounting option (using prerequisites); and (3) those with a business undergraduate degree with an accounting option.
The MSA curriculum consists of 4 MSA courses, 2 MBA electives, and 2 additional approved electives (including MBA and undergraduate accounting courses). Students must also satisfy the university graduate writing requirement and take a comprehensive cumulative exam (which serves as their culminating experience). The Fresno State catalog provides more information regarding the MSA Program and Curriculum.
To be considered for admission to the program, a prospective graduate student must apply online through CSU Mentor by completing the university Graduate Admission Application (domestic students) or an International Student Graduate Admission Application, and an MSA Program Application (all students) during the application period established by the university.
