Department of Marketing and Logistics BIG HIT nationwide...

Pi Sigma Epsilon Chapter Shows What it Takes to Win...
On April 11, 2007, the California State University, Fresno, chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon, Alpha Mu, received the William H. Harris Top Chapter Award for "Excellent Achievement" during the fraternitys 51st national convention held in Irvine, CA. The event was attended by more than 500 members from across the United States.

Despite a relatively small membership and having to compete against more than 50 other chapters in the US, Alpha Mu was recognized by the fraternity’s national headquarters for its professionalism, the commitment of its members, and its active role both on campus and in the community. It also recognizes the outstanding support the chapter has received from the Dept. of Marketing and Logistics at the Craig School of Business and the community.

Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only nationally recognized professional co-educational sales and marketing fraternity in the US and is dedicated to preparing committed and motivated college students seeking to maximize their college experience. Its goal is to provide college students with practical business experience while still in school through sales, sales projects, marketing, marketing research, and community service projects.

New Option!!

Beginning Fall Semester 2007, we are offering a new and exciting option: Logistics and Supply Chain Strategies

  • Logistics involves so many critical business activities that nearly every Fortune 500 and Global 500 company can be considered a potential employer for logistics managers. The same can be said for smaller public and private companies around the world.

  • The demand for logistics managers at all levels is excellent. The Collegiate Employment Research Institute reports that logistics is a field with more positions than graduates each year.

  • The Wall Street Journal (Career Journal.cpm, May 24, 2005) reports that senior logistics management talent is also in short supply. As logistics managers’ roles and value have grown, the need for well-educated, talented professionals with a diverse array of skills has emerged.

  • Logistics–the second largest employment sector in the United States– offers excellent salaries, opens doors, and provides advancement opportunities to the prospective manager. Logistics managers are in such great demand that both U.S. News and World Report Career guide and Working Woman have cited logistics as a hot career track.

  • Logistics is the traditional term used in marketing for the range of activities associated with the movement, storage and handling of materials and finished products. All of the activities involved in moving goods to the right place at the right time (as opposed to manufacturing them) can be described under the broad terms, "logistics" or "distribution." The act of supervising or managing this far-reaching activity is generally known as "Logistics Management" or "Distribution Management." Those persons who work in this industry are generally referred to as "Logistics Managers" or "Distribution Managers."
